"Emo Kid" - The Official Girls Are Evil Theme Song |
Download The Song | Emo Kid Lyrics
What up. Since this is my website I took the liberty to name a song by my joke band as the Official Girls Are Evil Theme Song. Does that make me lame? Oh well. This song is actually quite good, and its lyrics express the theme of this site. They are silly on one level, and dead on in terms of what poor emo boys go through. I hope you all enjoy it. If you like this song, go the Alcove Kids Official Website (but I warn you, this track isn't indicative of the rest of our songs).

Saves The Day |
Official Website | UnOfficial (Better) Website | Sample Lyrics | My Interview with Chris Conley
My STD Favorite Quotes Page | My Review of "Stay What You Are"
These five New Jersey pop-punk-emo-hardcore guys are perhaps the most profound and creative songwriters on the subject of young love and its failures. Chris, the singer and songwriter for the band, is the greatest songwriter I've ever heard. His lyrics are dark and sometimes disturbing, carefree at times, and always dead on and relatable. This band is a very important group in the world of underground music, and if the people at MTV had any tastes these guys would be all over the airwaves. For the best songs about girls and heartbreak, look no further than Saves the Day. Saves the Day is by far one of the bands, in a sea of no names and throwaways, that truly matter.

Have you heard about these guys? They are a band that some describe as "Victory Records answer to Saves the Day," but regardless of what some people say, they are both indicitive of that brand of pop-emo-punk as well as unique to their own sound. From South Bend, Indiana (see my friend from ND, there are some punk people up there!), these guys are relatively new and very young. However, they've already caught the eye of Victory Records, who have signed them and put out their debut full length "Soundtrack for A Generation". Their lyrics reflect teenage themes of heartbreak, friendship, and a little angst. They rock really hard with a style reflective of The Ataris, GUK, and yes... Saves the Day. Plus, they have an acoustic track on their album that is truly moving. Check these guys out.

Kevy-D's Interview With Kris Roe
You can't talk about Songs about Girls being Evil without discussing The Ataris. After all, their song "The Last Song I'll Ever Write About a Girl" totally epitomizes everything that Girls are Evil is about. These California punk rockers play heartfelt punk with touches of emo, and their music is excellent, catchy and they are also fantastic live. These guys are probably the kings of songs about heartbreak and the search for love. If you are a guy looking to impress a girl, just copy some of these lyrics as a love poem and you've got it made.

New Found Glory |
Official Website | Sample Lyrics |
My Article/Interview with New Found Glory
Coming out of Florida, these pop-punkers play upbeat punk music with lyrics about girls, dating and the problems and joys associated with it. At their live concerts, the band says "How many girls do we have here tonight?" and when all the evil ones scream, they continue, "Well, this song is about how you suck." The irony is that New Found Glory is getting very popular, and now, even when they say that, and sing a song about how girls are manipulative and mean, they are surrounded by a flock of hot punk girls at the end of every show. Man, I gotta start a band... I got to interview Cyrus, drummer for NFG, right ofn the verge of their now MTV status as punk rock teeny-bopper icons. I still like them, regardless of their new found success. I even got to go back stage and talk with Jordan (vocals) and the rest of the band. It was pretty cool... considering now I'd need backstage passes and the ability to outrun security guards to hang with them.

This guy is the most emo in the world. Chris Carrabba, who sings for the hardcore-emo outfit Further Seems Forever, now plays some kick ass acoustic emo songs that will make even the most hardcore kids heart melt. Seeing him play is literally amazing. I still cannot believe how talented and engaging his songs were. He rocks, even though he's just one man with his guitar. He is a musical genius and everyone who thinks girls are evil should check him out. And girls themselves got to check him out to see how great punk/emo guys are and why you should date us. I would just advise that you don't listen to his music when you are feeling emo, cuz that could spell trouble.

Fairweather |
Official Website | Sample Lyrics
I don't know why I never put these guys up a whole lot earlier. I first heard about these
guys from a press release my friend at my school's paper received. I was instantly hooked.
The melodies Fairweather plays are truly amazing. More than that, the vocalist is
completely unreal. If you've ever seen him, he doesn't look like the sort of guy who could
reach those high notes. Listen to the first track off their album, and you will know what I'm
talking about. Also, I have them playing in the background of the Mission
Statement when the evil T.V.F. told me about her new boyfriend. Awesome.

Little League |
Official Website | Sample Lyrics
While cruising the net earlier tonight I stumbled upon GrayZine.com,
which showcased a band called Little League. The webmaster described them as "Saves the Day
before they lost their balls..." I was skeptical, since Saves the Day is still an
amazing band, and I think they keep getting better each time I hear something new... they haven't lost their balls, they're just maturing. So I downloaded a track and immediately shouting "woah STD ripoff!" But after
checking out a few of their songs, I have come to the conclusion that these guys rock. They
sound a whole lot like Fairweather and Saves the Day, but a bit harder. The vocals are
amazing and there's energy to boot. While they might get some negative press for sounding so
similar to Saves the Day, you won't be able to deny that you'll be entertained.

The B-Side Diaries |
Official Website
Every so often a band writes me to tell me about their band. The guys from the B-Side Diaries emailed me and told me about them. I was first interested in them because I think their band name is totally kickass. I checked out their site and listened to their stuff, and I was very impressed.
The B-Side Diaries hail from Philly, PA, and told me they are buddies with Little League, another band I feature here on this page. They have a sound that is very very catchy. It's poppy at times but has lyrics about themes of heartbreak and youth. They are a band that seems to have a future in music (plus a nice Flash website). When you go to download a song by these guys, I strongly recommend Not Good Enough For This. It's a great song.

The Beans |
Official Website | Sample Lyrics
This is a band from Washington D.C./Baltimore who I think is just simply amazing. I was introduced to them while at school in DC and I can't wait to get back up there to see them tons more. It is geek rock, proclaimed proudly and strongly. Hornrim glasses, crunchy guitars, lyrics about girls thinking guys are dorks... the good stuff. It's poppy, and the band is unimaginably awesome live, wearing smooth suits and singing into 50's era mics. The coolest thing about these guys is the constant use of a moog keyboard throughout the songs. The singer, according to one drunken fan at their show at the Metro Cafe DC, looks just like Harry Potter from those books. Check him out, he really does. This band is great, and thank God they finally put out a full length, which I bought today and am listening to at present... it rocks your power-pop geek rock ass off. When you are sick of depressing music about girls, check out these guys for fun pop music about... guess what... girls.

North of December |
Official Website | The Written Word of Kevy-D of NOD
From the mind of Kevy-D, a friend of mine and staple of most of my websites in the past, comes North of December, his acoustic project following the break up of his punk band A Small Victory. Kevin plays powerful and heartfelt songs and belts them out with a force unknown until now. With his trusty sidekick Dustie commanding the acoustic guitar, Kevin sings about true unadulterated heartbreak. His songs can make you cringe with their bitter honesty and harsh invective. They also show great talent and musical skill. The songs are very personal and close to heart, and Kevin sings them that way. Check him out sometime, if you like Dashboard, you'll love North of December.
And plus, I made his website. Rock on. I also took this picture of him here.

American Hot Wax |
Official Website | "Love Needed Not Lost" mp3 | "Now Look What You've Done" mp3
American Hot Wax is a rock and roll quintet from Syracuse NY. One of their members expressed his interest in the site, and sent me some of his band's music. They are definitely worth checking out. It's melodic punk rock with a girl singer. They describe themselves as "sort of along the lines of Discount". Take a moment to familiarize yourself with this band, because you might be hearing about them sometime down the line.

Glenn's Army |
Official Website | Download Some mp3s
If you've read down to the bottom of this page, and you've been checking out all these "emo" bands and you've gotten sick of emo, then check out Glenn's Army. My friend Andrew, who goes to school with me, has a kickass pop-punk rock and roll band from Providence, RI. They play fast, uptempo Lookout style punk. They can be equated to bands like The Queers and Green Day. While they all go to separate schools in different states, they rock out whenever they are together. And they tell me this coming semester they might all be here together, meaning they'll get a lot of chances to rock out and gain a wider fan base. Good stuff. If you want to hear good Queers-style punk rock, give Glenn's Army a listen. I told Andrew I was going to put his band on my page, and I warned him that most of us kids here at this site listen to the whiny emo style bands, but we're hoping you can be open to hearing some happy, non-"girls hate me and I'm bitter" music.
